Important information to read before you enrol

Welcome:

Welcome to the Woolamai Beach SLSC.  Please complete the enrolment form below to enrol in the 2017/18 Woolamai Beach SLSC Nippers program and become members of the Woolamai Beach SLSC.

Dates and Times

Nipper Program dates/times for the 2017/18 Season are from 9.30am to 11.30am between Friday 29 December 2017 to Friday 5 January 2018.

Age requirements

Minimum age for participation in Nippers is 6 years old on the 1st of Oct 2017.

6 year olds not meeting this requirement and 5 year olds will be accepted where they have completed a year of primary school or where their parent is assisting in the running of the program.

Maximum age for participation in Nippers is 13 years old on the 1st of Oct 2017.

The Nippers age group your child will be in is calculated by taking child's age at 1 Oct and adding 1 year e.g a child who is 12 years old on 1 Oct is in the Under 13 group.

Please do not complete this form or attempt to enrol your child in Nippers if they do not meet the above age criteria.

Each child participating must wear a high visibility rash vest

It is mandatory for all Nippers to wear a high visibility Club rash vest during the program.  You may wear one from previous seasons.  If you need to order these, select the number of each required from the dropdown box in the cost section of the enrolment form and include in your payment. Rash vests cost $45. Items will be distributed at the start of the program.

At least one parent must be a Club member and be willing to help out

To participate in Nippers at least one Parent/Guardian must become a member of the Woolamai Beach Surf Life Saving Club. This should be the person responsible for the children participating in the Nippers program (Parent 1 on the form).

Social membership for the first parent is $30.  A second parent may join as a social member for free.  Parents are exempt from membership fees if they already hold another membership category and are a financial member of the Club for the 2017/18 season.

All members 18 years of age or older must provide a valid Working With Children Check registered to Woolamai Beach Surf Life Saving Club and Life Saving Victoria (see below for details).

At least one parent/guardian must have a Working With Children Check for children to be enrolled in the Nippers program. Please do not complete the enrolment form or attempt to enrol your children in Nippers until such time as you have a Working With Children Check.

If you accept a place in the Nippers program we expect your child to attend for the entire program and that you will make yourself available to help. You will be required to nominate help preferences on the form.

Each parent listed on the enrolment form must have a Working With Children Check (WWCC)

Mandatory WWCC's apply for all members 18 years old and over (including Teachers and Police Officers).

Each family joining the program will be required to join Surf Life Saving Australia’s online membership portal and pay Club membership fees by close of business Friday 3 November 2017.

This season we are asking all parents to set up their own family membership profile on the Surf Life Saving Australia online membership portal.  This portal feeds information into a membership database known as Surfguard.

Surfguard is a membership database operated by Surf Life Saving Australia which enables the creation and maintenance of records for surf life saving clubs and their members throughout Australia.

Family membership profiles include parent’s contact details, Working With Children Check details and whether the parent has any life saving qualifications. Children’s details are also entered into the membership portal.

The Woolamai Beach SLSC will then add additional information such as for awards gained (e.g Nippers certificates), record of swimming proficiency and competition qualifications.

In previous seasons the Club has entered family profile information into Surfguard however this has created a significant administrative burden and has led to not all information being accurate.  Most other Nippers programs in Victoria are now asking families to create their own family membership profiles.

Once you have enrolled in Nippers please go to the Surf Life Saving Australia website and set up your family membership profile and pay your membership fees at www.portal.sls.com.au

The following fees are applicable: $30 per child and $30 per parent or couple.

If you have not created or updated your family profile by the end of November 2017 your place in the program may be offered to another family and your program fee will be refunded.

Detailed instructions as to how to join, renew and pay are contained in the following document (INSTRUCTIONS)

Cancellation policy

Should you withdraw from the program a refund will be provided minus the following fees.

-On or before 30 November 2017 -$30 per child
-After 30 November 2017 -$50 per child

This will allow the Club to recoup costs associated with membership registration and insurance.
