Learn how to save lives and forge lifelong friendships. Gain your Bronze Medallion over two weekends: Sat-Sun 18-19 at Mentone Lifesaving Club then Sat-Sun 25-26 November at Woolamai Beach, Phillip Island. This course is for age 18+ .
The aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge of basic patrolling and surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations. This is the core award to be a Surf Lifesaver in Australia.
Dates and Times
This course is run over two consecutive weekends.
Weekend 1: Saturday 18th November & Sunday 19th November 2017 (9am - 5pm) at Mentone Life Saving Club (Accomodation NOT Provided); and
Weekend 2: Saturday 25th November & Sunday 26th November 2017 (9am - 5pm) at Woolamai Beach Surf Life Saving Club (Accomodation Provided)
Cost: $230 (This includes the Annual membership fee to Woolamai Beach Surf Life Saving Club)
Prerequisites: Candidates must meet ALL of the following conditions:
- Be at least 18 Years of age on the date of final assessment
- Complete a 400 metre swim in nine (9) minutes or less at Dandenong Oasis on Monday 13th November at 7.30pm, unaided (goggles/mask permitted), in a swimming pool of not less than 25 metres, or over a measured open water course which will be observed prior to the candidate undertaking any water training or assessment activities, evidence of which must be provided to the Assessor on the appropriate form prior to commencement of the assessment for this qualification.
Participants need to download the attachment (refer email sent) "BM - Learner Guide - Season 16-18", print it, complete it and bring it to Weekend 1 & Weekend 2. In order to complete the Bronze Medallion - Learner Guide, participants will need a Bronze Medallion Textbook/Manual. I will bring the Bronze medallion Textbooks/Manuals to Dandenong Oasis (Swimming Centre) on Monday 13 November at 7.30pm . If for some reason an answer to a question isn't in the Textbook/Manual, put an asterisk next to the question and we can discuss it at Weekend 1 or Weekend 2.
